These paintings are inspired by my experiences of Australian nature and its wildlife. While hiking on the Royal National Park, we saw an enormous goanna which we followed until it climbed to a tree to hide, blending in perfectly with the surroundings.

One day I was walking in the bush in one of the national parks around Sydney. I saw a beautiful goanna, I followed it and it climbed on to a tree. The beauty if this creature was hypnotic so I wanted to represent the entrancing feeling by using the spiraling lines that part from the tail.

It climbed onto a tree and looked at us from up there. It disguised well with the texture of the tree and I wanted to represent the goanna as being part of the tree.
