The Planet

I have been trying to find a way to work with the needle using more colors. I came across this cold wax medium that I mix with the oil paintings in order to allow flexibility and able to scratch with a clean line. This technique requires a lot of preparation but it is quite durable and reliable. The palette can be a bit limited in comparison with using the other medium, the water soluble encaustics, which is the one I am experimenting more lately.
The birth of a planet is the subject of this painting and my inspiration came from the images that we get from the Hubble space telescope.
